About the Show

Produced by:
Pico Vision

Puget Weekends is a weekly video podcast about upcoming fun in the Puget Sound area. At the beginning of each week we upload a new episode focusing on several festivals, fairs, events, concerts, parties, shows or conventions, with contact data, some highlights and contact data.

From the Producer

Years ago, in an enormous city far far away, a friend once told me, "There's never anything to do around here!"

And yet we were in the action and entertainment capital of the world! So I assembled a newsletter of fun things to do, and pretty soon it had a pretty big following.

Over a decade later, in a much wetter, but more highly caffeinated, city, we again here the naive cries of boredom and futility. Oh, the horrors!

So the we have decided to alleviate that problem with our first ever podcast. A podcast about fun things to do in the Puget Sound area.

The Puget Sound area is the northwest quarter of Washington State. Technically it includes some Canadians too, but since they won't admit it, we won't talk about it. This means mostly Seattle, Redmond, Bellevue, Olympia, Tacoma, Snohomish, Everett, Kirkland... all those areas that are associated with Boeing and Microsoft. Once in a while it means Portland/Vancouver or Vancouver B.C. too, just depends on how big the event is.

Of course there are always the normal things to do in this area, such as...

  • Go hiking. Great hiking here.
  • Drink Espresso. Even Italy has nothing on our espresso shops. Espresso Vivace in Seattle and Victor's in Redmond are especially fun.
  • Beer. There are dozens of micro-breweries and brew-pubs here. Pyramid (Seattle), Redhook (Woodinville), Issaquah Brewpub, Fullsail (Portland) just to name the big ones, but there are many smaller ones too.
  • Rock climbing, indoors, at REI.
  • Bike, skate or run the beautiful Sammamish/Burt Gilman trail
  • Pike Place, Pioneer Square, Floating Bridges, Space Needle, EMP (music museum), Mt. St. Helens, Snoqualmie Falls...

And yet... none of these will be covered! Why?, you ask right on cue. Because they're always here. This video podcast is about "special" events.

Now if you're not from around here, you might be wondering just how spoiled this area is... how can we possibly have anything more special than the Olympic Rain Forest. And the answer is, "Special" just means Transient. So the video podcast covers fairs, festivals, concerts, picnics, things that are here today and gone tomorrow.
